The Day Webster Group is currently seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to fill the position of Hospital Porter in a hospital setting located in East London. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the healthcare industry and make a positive impact on patient care.

Position Details:

Salary Information:

  • Day Rate (6am-8pm, Mon-Fri): £12.00/hour, including holiday pay
  • Night/Saturday Rate (8pm-6am, Mon-Fri & Saturdays): £13.00/hour, including holiday pay
  • Sunday/Bank Holiday Rate: £17.00/hour, including holiday pay

Working Hours:

  • Weekly Hours: 37.5 hours, spanning Monday to Sunday
  • Shift Patterns Include:
    • Early Morning: 06:00-10:00
    • Day: 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00
    • Night: 22:00-06:00
    • Evening: 18:00-22:00 / 19:00-22:00 / 20:00-22:00

About the Role:

Joining the Portering Team, you will follow the guidance of the Supervisory Team and contribute significantly to supporting patient care by completing various tasks in a safe, timely, and appropriate manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transporting patients and equipment within the hospital premises
  • Adhering to hospital policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Maintaining and cleaning portering equipment
  • Ensuring a clean, safe, and secure environment within the hospital
  • Assisting with lockdown procedures and security measures
  • Mentoring new team members and aiding in equipment transportation
  • Managing waste collection and disposal
  • Supporting hospital security and emergency responses


  • GCSEs in English & Maths or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 1 in Customer Service or a similar qualification
  • Experience in a customer service role
  • Familiarity with the porter role and the ability to follow instructions
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • A commitment to the position and self-motivation
